Once again, the school comes out near the top for having one of the most sober and religious college campuses in the United States, according to a survey released this week.
Conducted by the Princeton Review, the survey asked 122,000 students at 373 of the top colleges to rate their schools on dozens of topics including financial aid, classroom experience, dorm rooms and relationship to the community.
Wheaton College ranked No. 2 in the "Got Milk," "Scotch and Soda, Hold the Scotch" and "Stone-Cold Sober" categories, all of which relate to how widely alcohol is used on campus.
It also was ranked No. 3 for having the most religious students. Brigham Young University took the top spot in all those categories. Last year, BYU and Wheaton took the first- and second-place spots in some of the same categories.
"The students by and large place a high value on having an atmosphere that takes seriously our commitment to our community covenant," said college spokeswoman LaTonya Taylor.
The west suburban campus ranked No. 4 for best campus food.
The school ranked fifth among schools most unfriendly to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
"We think that rating is unfortunate," Taylor said.
